Bookmaker Review of Betshop
2006/11/24 - Review by Ira Nanson

BetShop was acquired by Leisure and Gaming PLC in June 2006 for the grand sum of £32.06 million. L&G have established a solid reputation and used to parent some of the top shelf books including VIP, BetGameday, MyBookie and Nine.

This European book provides only an average selection of sporting events such as soccer, tennis, motor sports, skiing, rugby, golf, boxing, cycling, cricket, some American sports, lotto and entertainment.

Similarly and unlike their main UK rivals William Hill, Ladbrokes and EuroBet there are not many wager types available, the basics include single events, unique events, simple, mixed and combo bets, a basic variety which is more suited to the recreational bettor.

A big problem with Betshop is the number of deposit options available. With only four methods to choose from it's just too minimal for to £50 and the maximum is £500 or equivalent.

Internet wagering only, bets submitted by any other portal will be made invalid. The minimum stake is £1.00 and the maximum is £100 or $150 EUR/USD. Limits can be raised but only at the discretion of management.

Perhaps their best feature is the professional and friendly customer service. Agents are available via live chat, email and telephone. The service is efficient and the email response time is promised within 24 hours.

US customers are not able to wager at BetShop.

With the lack of features and betting options available Betshop is not equipped to service the professional and dedicated bettors. But under new management there is potential for great improvement and SGR will continue to monitor their progress.
